Introduction: The all-new Honda Civic Hatchback
The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback burst onto the scene and impressed almost everyone that saw it, including us! It gave a whole host of new features and improvements. We had been waiting for this one for a long time, and it was definitely worth the wait. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2017 Civic, as far as what it offered and why we loved it so much.
We’ve just finished our prelim report of the new Accord generation, but wanted to take a look back at the Civic that shaped the future of the Honda styling for the recent generations.
What was new with the Civic in 2017?
First off, let’s talk about what was new. The most obvious change was the addition of a hatchback body style, which gives the car a sportier look and feel. But that’s not all – under the hood, there was an awe inspiring turbocharged engine option ( which we will get to in a bit… don’t worry ) that promise to deliver some serious power. And inside, you found an updated infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
Spacious and versatile interior
If you’re looking for a vehicle with a spacious and versatile interior, the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback is a great option. With plenty of room for five passengers and plenty of cargo space, the Civic hatchback is perfect for families or anyone who needs a little extra space. And if you need even more room, the rear seats fold down to provide additional storage space. Whether you’re taking a road trip or just running errands around town, the Civic hatchback has the space and versatility to get the job done.
While we wouldn’t say it is a huge small car… if that makes sense, it fits 4 people and is a bit snug… so we wouldn’t advertise it as a great long road trip option for more than two people. But if there’s just two people going for a long drive, we’d list this as one of the top choices… if only for the….
Improved performance and fuel efficiency
The 2017 Honda Civic was more than just a pretty face. With a turbocharged engine option, the Civic hatchback was now one of the most powerful and fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. Which is impressive to put it modestly.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine option produces 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, while still maintaining an impressive fuel economy rating of 31 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.* Not to mention, the Hatchback’s sleek and aerodynamic design helps it cut through the air with ease, resulting in better performance and handling.
Advanced safety and driver-assistive features
When it came to safety, the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback has got you covered. With advanced features like a Collision Mitigation Braking System and Adaptive Cruise Control, this vehicle is designed to help you avoid accidents altogether. And in the event of an accident, the Civic Hatchback’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is designed to protect you and your passengers. So whether you’re driving in the city or on the open road, you can rest assured that the Civic Hatchback has your back.
We really can’t go on enough about the quality of the safety features as they are really good for the price point. We have compared them to similar priced cars and honestly this Civic is MUCH better than the other cars in this price range…. looking at you Kia and Toyota.
Exterior design: aggressive and sporty
When it comes to the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback, there’s no mistaking its exterior design for anything else on the road. The car’s aggressive and sporty look is sure to turn heads, and its sleek lines are impossible to ignore. Even though the hatchback is smaller than the sedan, it still makes a big visual impact.
The front of the car is defined by a sharp nose and aggressive headlights, while the rear features a spoiler and dual exhaust tips. The overall effect is a sporty and stylish car that’s sure to turn heads when it hits the road.

You honestly won’t be able to beat this car for the price they were going at. Now that we have Covid pricing the prices have gone up but before the increase they were a steal. They combine an aggressive new looking car with enough power to make it fun to drive but not destroy your yearly budget when you need to fill it up.
While we love this Civic, we just can’t find any place that we really loved it more than we Love our Accord… so as much as we’d love to pick one up maybe when the price drops down a bit we will be able to get one for a drive around town.
