Renault has been reported to have discarded plans to built a 3-door version of it is latest rear-engined Twingo (comprising a platform imparted with the next stunning Smart models), and the only great body style to be presented will be a 5-door hatch. Renault told us that the choice has been made to boost the practical appeal of that car, so that more people, especially men, are willing to buy it.
The fact is that the recent variant of the city runabout, now in the second-gen, is mostly bought by women, and the only one a bloke wouldn’t mind being seen in is the stunning RS 133.
Renault gave us a word that it will comprise an unbeatable interior space due to the rear mounting of the engine, allowing dash to be pushed forward, while the extensive personalization choices have turned out to be more unbeaten.
The fact also said that the Twingo is still bought mostly by women since it has a very small shape and it’s easy to be maneuvered. But, do they want to change to a model that will be mostly bought by men? Why not they have both of those? Let’s buyers take their decision.
This 5-door, rear-wheel driven third-generation Twingo will be introduced in Europe towards the end of 2014.
