The Amazing new Type-R Turbo engine

Honda has showcased the latest Civic Type R Turbo development car at its in-house test track in Tochigi, Japan, ahead of the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The car is currently camouflaged and is being put through its paces as part of an extensive testing process taking place in Europe and Japan, ahead of its much anticipated launch in 2015.

The Civic Type R will be the first model to have one of Honda’s all-new VTEC TURBO engines from the Earth Dreams Technology range. This 2 litre, 4-cyclinder turbo engine with direct injection is expected to have class-leading output in excess of 280PS and will be EURO 6 compliant.

Gabriele Tarquini, Honda’s WTCC driver, gave his first driving impressions of the car after recent testing at the Nurburgring in Germany. He said that the car was fantastic and had great characteristics.

Overall the car is very ( Very) impressive. The output of the engine’s power and torque are really impressive, coupled with the excellent handling it finds a perfect balance that you can close your eyes and just feel the soul of the original Integra Type R around you..
