GT-R just got $7,000 more expensive

October 14, 2008

The early bird gets the cheap GT-R. Or so it is for a while after Nissan, effective immediately, bumped the price of the 2009 Nissan GT-R to $76,840 for the GT-R and $79,090 for the GT-R Premium model. That’s a price hike of almost $7,000 from last year’s base MSRP of $68,850. The price hike comes because Nissan claims the price of raw materials has sky-rocketed.Luckily for some, the adjusted price does not affect orders placed before September 5th.

While I wonder why Nissan would give the GT-R an interim “price adjustment”, it is nothing compared to the dealers already selling GT-R’s for atleast $10,000 over Nissan’s original MSRP. The sad thing is dealer hikes and the latest price adjustment have pushed the once affordable GT-R into Porsche 911 territory.
