G-Power BMW

G-Power done it again, but this time with their latest tuning car project based on the BMW X6 M and they called it the the Typhoon S. The BMW SUV got a body kit similar to the Typhoon S X5 M, featuring a new front bumper, vented hood, carbon fiber rear diffuser, and new sport springs to drop the car 30 mm. This aftermarket body kit is priced at 6,990 EUR from G-Power, who is known to be one of the more expensive tuners around. However these days, you pay for what you get, and the quality of G-Power products is like no other, they are a top of the line manufacturer. The wheels you see here are a set of 23-inch Silverstone RS alloys, wrapped in high performance Michelin tires, and priced at 8,865 EUR.

Under the hood of the BMW X6 M Typhoon S is the factory 4.4-liter V8 engine with a few upgrades. Thanks to the enlarged air intakes in the front skirt and the vents in the bonnet, there is an increase in the flow of cold air to the water and oil coolers at the front of the vehicle. This improves their cooling performance by around 15% each, forming the basis for a thermally stable power increase using one the electronic optimization techniques developed by G-POWER to modify the engine mapping, including removal of the top speed limiter. On the exhaust side, a full stainless steel G-POWER system (also available in titanium) delivers the necessary reduction in exhaust gas pressure.

Alongside the use of sports catalytic converters, this is largely attributable to the flow-optimized G-POWER exhaust manifold. Optimized connecting channels also run between the turbochargers and cylinder heads to minimize pressure and shock losses. The outcome is an additional 170 hp, taking the total output to a formidable 725 hp at 6,000 r/min and 890 Nm of torque as of 1,500 r/min. The maximum torque is electronically limited in order to avoid overloading the standard transmission. In combination with a reinforced transmission, a maximum torque measuring an immense 1,000 Nm can be realized.

These mods come in at a pricey 13,526 EUR, but after the installation, customers will notice a gain of 168 horsepower, and 210 Nm of torque. It now has a total output of 715 hp and 890 Nm of torque. At the track, the BMW X6 performed great with a sprint time of 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, and a top speed over 300 km/h.
