Nissan 370Z upcomming

October 14, 2008

It’s been a while since we’ve heard or seen anything about Nissan’s upcoming 370Z, but lately there’s been a small outbreak of spy images and info about the new Z-car, giving us a more detailed glimpse at the latest car to wear the coveted Z badge.

Clear as day is the 240Z-esque rear quarter window treatment, fatter fenders and bulldog-like front bumper. The body itself also appears shorter, squatter and generally more solid than the 350Z, while the be-fanged front bumper also appears to have taken on an almost GT-R-like quality.

On the inside there’s more organic styling in the centre console and dashboard, a set of column-mounted paddle shifters for the seven-speed auto gearbox (no twin clutch cogswapper has been announced) and Nissan/Infiniti’s familiar sat-nav interface, which finally makes the move into the Z.

Aesthetically, the 370Z is beginning to look more and more like a proper sports car - and one that’s a good deal more upmarket than its predecessor, the Z33 350Z. It’s a promising sign for Nissan, as the Japanese automaker has previously hinted that the latest addition to the Z-car family will have Porsche’s Carrera squarely in its sights.

But despite its prestige aspirations, don’t fret too much if you don’t have the coin to buy one when it launches later this year. For the down-at-heel and thin-of-wallet, the 370Z will still be available in a far more affordable form in the latest game from EA’s Need For Speed franchise: Need For Speed Undercover. Say what you will about the game itself, but the Z’s looking hotter and hotter the more we see of it. Check out the screen grabs below for an extra peek at the 370Z final form.
