Nissan Canada has announced a recall spanning 7400 vehicles including cars and SUVs from both Nissan and their sister brand Infiniti. The vehicles have been recalled for a potential gas leak that could result in a fire. No cases of any untoward incident have been recorded as of yet still, Nissan is going ahead with the recall. The car maker has also recalled 79,000 vehicles in the United States of America.
Compared to the states, the number of vehicles recalled in Canada is low. According to the car maker, customers will be informed about the recall which will happen on March 19th. The recall includes the Juke, Infiniti QX56 SUVs and M56 sedan from the model year 2011 and 2012. These vehicles are apparently suffering from a faulty pressure sensor which is feared to lead to leak.
Nissan is taking this issue very seriously before the problem escalates. Customers will be notified ahead of the scheduled recall to take their vehicles to the nearest Nissan dealership where technicians will inspect the sensors for any trouble. The sensors will be re-tightened or worst case, the fuel rail pressure gasket will be replaced. Problems relating to the fuel leak problems will be addressed free of charge.
The issue came to light when National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a report on their website about the fuel pressure sensors on the Nissan and Infiniti models which may not be fastened properly. This could cause gasoline to leak out, resulting into a fire. For more details, customers car get in touch with Nissan on the following helpline-
