To mark the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and the Italian company, they have planned several events to commemorate this birthday. Maybe, the most important thing on this celebration will be a “special model”. In addition, the CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has verified for the forthcoming Geneva Auto Show in the next March.
Although Winkelmann wouldn’t say more, the head of research and development of Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiano, was more informative. He told us that they want it to be a tribute to this Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. They also want it to shock and to reward.
Reggiano added: “It won’t be just a concept car, but it will be “a homologated car” that the company intends to manufacture. Usually, Lamborghini give something since we want to produce or to sell it” he also said that these cars just like the most recent US$2.1 million Aventador J, these cars are part of Lamborghini’s strategy. Well, it’s due to buyers price are loyal customers that buy “the greater part of the time without seeing the real car.”
Despite the sister company, Bentley, having got the green light as to its EXP 9 F SUV, the most recent Lamborghini’s Urus SUV, which is based on the same platform with that car, is still waiting for approval.
Winkelmann said: “If the group make a decision to give a green light to the project, the Urus could be produced 2017 and it may even receive a diesel in the case that it made sense. Commonly, we have one model and one engine, and you need an engine that will be able to be sold worldwide and the choice of diesel, unfortunately, is not. Until now, we don’t see any enhancement in this direction.”
Well, it seems to be a weird thing, but, just let it go: a raging bull SUV is understandable, but a diesel Lamborghini unthinkable.
