The Imperia, which is a Belgian car brand that manufactured motorcycles and automobiles from the year of 1904 to 1958, was brought back to life 50 years later by the Green Propulsion, a company that spent only €400 to acquire the brand.
Recently, this company has a plan to build a hybrid sports car under the name of imperia GP, which has became a concept car and has ready to be produced. The retro-styled GP employs design cues from the past Imperia models while it may be called the Belgian Wiesmann because of its resemblance o the German manufacturer’s GT model.
It’s designed in-house along with the help from Denis Steven. And the GP’s most interesting features are the vertical radiator grille and also the front wings separated from the engine hood. Meanwhile, inside, you’ll be able to find that the dashboard is now dominated by curves. Besides that, the analog instruments maintain the retro theme.
Furthermore, the hybrid powertrain is a very different story along with the Imperia stated that the GP is one of the “greenest” sports car around. It mixes a BMW/PSA-sourced 1.6 liter turbocharged engine that is able to bring 200bhp and also 260Nm of torque along with an electric motor that is able to generate 150bhp and also 350Nm of torque, for a total 350bhp and also 610Nm of torque.
That’s good to let the 1,200 kilos GP accelerate from standstill up to 100 km/hour just in 6 seconds in the pure electric mode, and just in 4 seconds in the hybrid mode. The top speed is recorded limited to 216 km/hour to keep away from complete battery depletion.
Appealing figures for a car that is stated to bring back a combined fuel consumption of 1.9 liters/100 kilos plus 11.5 kWh/100 kilos in the hybrid mode and emits under 50grams of CO2/kilo. In the electric mode, the 11 kWh batteries provide a driving range of about 60 kilometers along a full battery charge taking 4 hours and 30 minutes.
.
Meanwhile, the price of the first model is about €125,000 in Belgium. And next, the Green Propulsion will unveil a more basic version cost at €95,000. The initial production is predicted at 100 cars a year, but the company’s aim is to make 200 cars a year.
