The Flying Lizard racing team went to great lengths this year to cover their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR competition car in two very distinct liveries. Flying Lizard’s two 911 GT3 RSR race cars will compete in the 2011 24 Heures du Mans with No. 80 and No. 81. The livery of the two Porsche 911 GT3 RSR racers was inspired by the 28 drivers who have won the 24 Heures du Mans overall in a Porsche. It was designed by California-based artist Troy Lee.
Flying Lizard’s new livery is based on two candy metallic colors, blue and orange, and provide a backdrop for the driver names and flags which weave throughout the design on the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 RSR race cars. Jens Walther, President of Porsche Motorsport North America, said that his company is proud that Flying Lizard chose to decorate their cars in honor of the 28 drivers who won the famous race.
The 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is powered by a 4.0-litre, 6-cylinder boxer engine developing 455 hp (355 kW) and 450 Nm of torque. If you’re looking to race one, its price starts at 410,000 Euro.
