Audi cant wait, so they released these two sketch photos of the new R8 GT Spyder which is going on sale early next year. This R8 GT Spyder will get a 5.2-liter V10 FSI unit developing 412 kW (560 hp) and 540 Nm of torque, pretty much similar engine as the coupe. With this engine under its hood, the Audi R8 GT coupe is able to get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 320 km/h.
The Spyder version however, will probably not be able to match those figures. Traditionally, open-top versions are usually heavier than the coupes, due to the weight added to strengthen the car and compensate for not having a roof. This means the Audi R8 GT Spyder will need a bit more time for the 062 mph sprint. The top speed of Audi’s R8 GT Spyder might be the same as the one of the coupe. The R8 GT was able to lap the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 33 seconds. We doubt that the R8 GT Spyder will be able to match this performance.
The coupe will be produced in only 333 units. The Audi R8 GT Spyder might share the same faith, but with a slight price increase. This could mean more than 193,000 Euro on the European market and more than 268,000 USD in the USA.
We’ll have more details on the R8 GT Spyder as soon as Audi makes them available.
