The Day has come, Toyota released the specs of the FT-86 production version, which is getting closer and closer to its premiere day. The Toyota FT-86 will be a new model, developed in collaboration with Subaru, which will be marketed as a Scion too. The production version of Toyota’s FT-86 will be powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine, developed by Subaru. Toyota will add to the horizontally-opposed engine its D-4S technology, which features a direct injection system combined with port injection.
The Toyota FT-86 will be sold with a choice between a 6speed manual transmission and an automatic gearbox. For the manual version of the FT-86, Toyota promises quick and precise shifts with a short-throw, while the automatic model will come with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Toyota’s FT-86 will be a rear wheel drive vehicle and will come equipped with a limited slip differential. In terms of design, the new production model will be based on the Toyota FT-86 II concept premiered at this year’s Geneva auto show. Some of the styling features of the concept however, might not make it into production.
We’ll have more details on Toyota’s production FT-86 as soon as they’re available. Stay Tuned
