McLaren GT is proud to announced that the very first unit of its McLaren MP4-12C GT3 has successfully accomplished its debut test at the e MIRA proving ground facility and Silverstone Circuit in England.
The debut tests include calibrating its custom-made aerodynamic body structures, these tests will be followed by another set of comprehensive tests scheduled over the month of March and April at some FIA certified circuits in Europe. At the same time, McLaren GT also announced the 26-year old Portuguese racing driver, Alvaro Parentea as their new test-driver.
The 2011 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is powered by a 3.8L V8 twin-turbo engine making approximately 600-hp. Mated to a 7-speed Seamless Shift dual-clutch gearbox (SSG) it can sprints from 0-60 mph in 3 second range with a top speed of 200 mph or above.
Limited numbers of McLaren 12C GT3 race cars will be produced for the 2012 European FIA GT3 Series and will be sale in the United States beginning summer of 2011 with prices starting at $231,400.
