Subaru announced at the 2011 New York International Auto Show the new 2012 Impreza, with both its versions, the 4-door sedan and the 5-door hatchback. The 2012 Subaru Impreza features a new exterior design, a higher quality interior and a new range of engines. Subaru says they actually paid special attention to the interior space of the 2012 Impreza, as well as its quality and refinement. The 2012 Impreza now has a 104.1 inch wheelbase, which is 0.9 inch longer than before, which leads to increased passenger room and luggage space.
Subaru is now offering with the 2012 Impreza a new 4-cylinder 1.6 liter Boxer petrol engine mated to the five-speed manual transmission or the company’s Lineartronic CVT gearbox. Subaru says the engine has lower fuel consumption and OC2 emissions, however, they do not mention its horsepower output.
As you might have expected, the 2012 Subaru Impreza will continue to be AWD, featuring the company’s trick Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. However, the 2012 Impreza will have a choice between two of them. The five-speed manual 2012 Subaru Impreza will have a Continuous AWD system with viscous-coupling that distributes the power 50/50 front and rear. The 2012 Subaru Impreza CVT will come with the Active Torque Split AWD system that has a continuously variable transfer clutch.
